Excelent product for my application. I just got the generator to be use on my boat to power an Eight thounsand btu a/c plus a 60 amp batterie charger all at the same time. Well it did it and running the test I plugged in by mistake an 1500 watts cabin heater that also worked fine. I was imprest. The econo switch work fine but I did see a slow start when the a/c compressor went on, the blower dropped speed but for a couple of sec then the speed came back very strong. The rpm on the generator when up for no more than 5 sec and then drop to a lettle more than idle with the a/c running fine. A/c, Batterie Charger and a table fan all at the same time no problems at all for this little guy to power up. Life is good. I was looking for a generator with more power but this one seen to be doing the job. Good buy plus wise got it delivered at my front door in 3 days. (Posted on 5/17/12)

I bought the Yamaha ef2000is to replace a 3 week old honda eu2000 that i bought locally (i live in NY). The honda was blowing blue smoke on startup after roughly 5 hours of light use. Was getting worse with each startup. Oil level was correct (dealer set up unit) Took unit to two different dealers and both were telling me that it is normal?! Sold it in disgust for a loss and bought this Yamaha from wise. This generator is better in every way than the honda. Better features, just as quiet and powerful. Starts on first pull. Have around 20 hours on it at the moment and love it. Wish i had gone this route in the first place. Had bought Honda because all my friends have them. Now after they checked out my Yamaha they all said if they could do it again they would get the Yamaha. Highly recommend this unit and buying from wisesales. (Posted on 4/11/12)

After all the glowing reviews I thought It would be hard for this machine to live up to the hype. Tuesday order with Wise, free shipping no tax, shows up Friday afternoon. Double boxed in perfect condition from Fed Ex. Add oil & gas starts fist easy pull, settles in to Very Quiet purr. Gas gauge is nice touch. Charge a 12 volt auto battery with supplied cable, plug in a drill and test a large room fan. Thrilled so far! (Posted on 3/31/12)

I have two Honda 2000's and have had them for 4 years each. I thought I would try a Yamaha based on these reviews. Wise took my order and shipped promptly. It was well packed and easy to unpack and easy to start. I took this generator to my hunt camp in Northern Ontario. It was cold there, around 0'F. The Yamaha starts easier than the Honda in cold weather
I put 30 hrs on the Yamaha before writing this. I added one of those inductive hour meters. It was very difficult to install compared to the Honda
The Yamaha seems to have a better finish than the Honda but I do not like the fact that you need a phillips screwdriver to remove two screws to get the cover off where the Honda utilized a coin. It is also tricky to snap the maintenance cover on and off after you have removed the screws. The screws on the Yamaha just fall out while the Honda screw uses a keeper so it won't fall away from the cover.
I found negligible difference in fuel consumption and noise between the two.

Now the problem. I have always used a Honda to power the cabin. I usually have the satellite TV running, a few lights, a fan. In the morning I run a coffee maker and toaster (at different times). While running the Yamaha with TV, lights and a fan running, If I started the toaster the TV would instantly go black as it would when the coffee maker was turned on. This NEVER happened with the Honda. It seems the Yamaha just doesn't have that quick ramp up power capability when a fast current draw comes on line.

If you are planning to add one of those magnetic dipsticks or extended range fuel caps available at Wise be aware that the threads are different on the Honda and Yamaha

This may or may not be important to you. There are other features mentioned above that the Honda has whereas the Yamaha doesn't have that may outweigh this shortfall

Received my new EF2000iS within 4 days of ordering which was excellent. Unboxed, and followed the instructions by putting the oil in first, and then fuel. Unit fired up on the First Crank. This Generator Far Exceeds all others which are currently for sale, not only with muffled Sound, but also generator output. This light weight unit currently out performs my Kipor 3000 watt unit which I had been using with my RV, not only by weight, but 50% less sound. I would strongly recommend this Yamaha Unit above all others. (Posted on 1/7/12)

Fast shipping, all items factory sealed and fresh(brand new). Although the Honda was available I liked a few features and design characteristics of the Yamaha better. Nothing against either brand, I've ridden them both (heh, heh). If you had been looking for the EF2000iS in the past 60 days you would know it was in very short supply. I could have bought from a few other places, but early on I kind of became attached to Wise Sales - based solely on customer reviews. Don't usually rely too much on these, but I found very few negative reviews - other than some that just sounded like "personal issues". (Posted on 12/23/11)

After much research I chose this over the Honda. We just suffered through out the Nor'Easter in October 2011. Trees down everywhere roads closed for days and we lost power for 5 days. Generator performed flawlessly and was the only reason we were able to keep sane. Thanks to Yamaha, we had some heat and lights at night and a cup of coffee in the morning. Buying from Wise was a pleasure and they were very helpful and answered all my questions. I am going to purchase a second with connect cable. (Posted on 11/28/11)

It started on the first pull. It costs @100.00 more than a Honda because it has more features and a tool kit. I just hope it lasts for a long time. It is quiet,not heavy, and right now its works great. The reason I got a Yamaha over a Honda is because I read all the reviews for both online and the Yamaha had better reviews. I feel I made the right choice. I think $XXX.XX is too much for any generator this size but I don't want a piece of junk and this Yamaha is top-of-the-line. (Posted on 11/21/11)

I shopped for weeks for a reliable generator for football tailgating. For years the Honda was the undisputed leader for quality. After comparing the Yamaha to the Honda and Generac in real world all day SEC football tailgating in all weather conditions the Yamaha is clearly the best product/value. Wise was price competitive with excellent customer service and prompt shipping. We received the generator in three days brand new in excellent condition. Easy setup, easy start and very reliable and quiet. I love the fuel gauge on top. We are buying another from Wise. (Posted on 10/27/11)
